The Lung (2025)
Installation/Live Assembly
Bay Area artists Rania Ho, Karrie Hovey, and Josh Short launch the Recovery Crew Intervention—a live, 5-day, on-site creative action repurposing trade show waste into spontaneous sculpture. Real-time material reclamation: collecting, sorting, hot-gluing, and reimagining the detritus of the trade show. A nutty, challenging and very fun five full days.
Artists are Recology AIR alum and came together to work on this project making art out of trash.

On the first day, the armature started out a plain white lung shape. By the end of day 5, it was transformed: |

A highly enjoyable improvisational, spontaneous, playful, give and take cooperation. We hoped to draw attention to trade fair / consumer waste, and make something of note out of the refuse. Conceptually we played with ideas of the organic vs the Anthropocene, and the push and pull in-between. | |
